- Canada's Nature Strategy establishes a goal of mobilizing private capital for conservation and biodiversity goals. Canada's Nature Advantage - an initiative of Nature United - identifies 5 building blocks for Canada to achieve its goals: classifying nature as a capital asset, modernizing data infrastructure, blended finance mechanisms, a national credit market, and embedding indigenous leadership.
Lobbying asks include financial instruments, such as contracts for difference, equity participation or other Government of Canada financial guarantees for forestry and agriculture investments in sustainable business practices. Further asks are a truly national offset credit market and classifying nature as a capital asset.
