In their own words

  • That the federal government invest in ways to maintain and strengthen the availability of critical veterinary drugs in the interest of protecting public health and safety, animal health and welfare, and food safety and security. Canada should lead in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to improve shared drug approval pathways making the process more efficient and economical.
  • That the federal government address the shortage of veterinarians in rural and remote regions and those working in the agriculture and agri-food sector by expanding the eligibility of the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness program to include veterinarians on the list of eligible occupations.
  • Discussions with government officials concerning veterinary medicine as it relates to workforce shortages and mental health of veterinarians.
