In their own words

  • Advocated for clarification and consistency in CBSA tariff classification of cheese related pet treats/food. Raised concerns about retroactive tariff assessments and economic impacts on Canadian businesses. Requested a pause on enforcement and development of clear guidance or advance rulings to ensure predictable import treatment.
  • Pets in emergency planning. Requested that the federal government allocate funding and resources within its emergency programs to support pet-inclusive evacuation and sheltering, ensuring pets are considered in federal response measures and in support provided to provinces and municipalities.
  • Trade + China diversification Advocated for stronger trade ties outside the U.S. and diplomatic action to resolve China export barriers and IP issues. Requested federal support for market diversification programs to protect Canada’s pet industry and jobs.
