An Act to establish a national strategy on brain injuries
Bill C-206 requires the federal Minister of Health to develop a national strategy on brain injuries, working together with provincial health ministries, Indigenous groups, and other relevant stakeholders. The goal of the strategy is to improve awareness, prevention, and treatment of brain injuries, and to support the rehabilitation and recovery of people living with them.
The bill sets out specific things the strategy must address, including prevention measures, training for health care and other professionals, better research and data collection, national care guidelines and standards, public education campaigns, funding and collaboration with brain injury associations and service providers, mental health support in schools, sports organizations and workplaces, and attention to related challenges such as addiction, homelessness, and violence linked to brain injury. It also requires creation of online public resources and a task force made up of policymakers, community organizations, brain injury associations, Indigenous groups, and people affected by brain injuries and their families to advise on the strategy.
Finally, the bill sets deadlines and reporting duties: the Minister must table a report describing the strategy in Parliament within 18 months of the law coming into force and publish it online shortly after. Then, within five years of that report being tabled, the Minister must evaluate how well the strategy is working and report back to Parliament with conclusions and recommendations. The bill does not create new programs or funding itself; it mandates that government develop, report, and periodically review this strategy.
This bill requires the Minister of Health to develop a national brain injury strategy, in consultation with named groups, and to report on it to Parliament.

Filed with the Commissioner of Lobbying of Canada. Registry filings carry no bill number of their own, so Arena links one when a filing names the bill on or after the day it was introduced. A filing records that a meeting happened, not what position was taken — an organisation meeting about a bill may be seeking to pass, amend, delay or defeat it. Current to Sep 2026.
